Festival and rave tickets can get pretty pricey. If you’re someone who is on a budget or you don’t want to drop a whole lot of money at once, there are layaway plans that you can enroll in when buying tickets to an event.
Layaway Plans
Layaway plans are amazing if you don’t have enough money to purchase a full price ticket when tickets are put on sale. Usually you will have to put down a down payment, then after that you will be charged every month a certain amount until you don’t owe anymore. This is a great option if you are saving your money because you can pay at your own pace. You can plan your money accordingly and make sure you have enough to plan the rest of your trip.

Full Price
There is always the option to buy your tickets full price as well. You don’t have to worry about paying every month. If you want to buy full price, I would put money aside until you have the full amount. Once you do, go ahead and get that ticket and relax until the event comes up.

Resellers
There are pages for events on Facebook and other social media platforms that resell their tickets. Sometimes people will buy extra tickets to sell them for more and make profit but other times someone might not be able to go anymore and they are trying to get rid of it and get their original money back. If you buy a ticket off of a reseller make sure they are a legit source. Don’t let someone take advantage of your hard earned money. Check to see if other people have bought from them before or if their personal page seems legit. Be careful when going through resellers, it can be better for last minute trips, but just make sure you’re not being taken advantage of.

If you listen close to other rave attendees or “headliners” you might hear someone describe another as being “PLUR”. PLUR is an acronym for peace, love, unity, and respect. This is a huge part of the rave culture. When attending events it is important to be PLUR to others and spread positivity. Non-EDM festivals can sometimes get rowdy and not everyone is spreading good vibes. At EDM events there a few ways to be PLUR to others which helps you and others have an even better experience when attending events. This is what makes raves so addicting to attend because of the vibes and the community.
How To Spread PLUR Vibes
There are a few ways you can be PLUR and spread good vibes to others in attendance. One way is by trading kandi with others. Kandi are handmade bead bracelets that you wear to events. For example if you’re talking to someone you just met during a set, you can trade them a kandi for being chill and talking to you. If someone came up to you randomly and started dancing with you or hyped you up while dancing they can give you a kandi for being so encouraging while they show off their moves. Trading kandi is a way of saying thank you.

Another way you can spread good vibes and keep up the PLUR mentality is just simply by being kind to others. If you see someone who doesn’t seem to be in a good mood you can go up to them and ask them how their day is going and who they are excited to see at the festival. One time I was enjoying a set and I looked over and saw someone that looked like they needed water. They didn’t bring a CamelBak with them and it was extremely hot aside. I went over to them and offered them some of my water and they were so happy. They thanked me and traded kandi with me. It’s as easy as letting a rave family get ahead of you at a stage or offering someone a piece of gum. Being kind to others and doing little actions like that can make their whole experience that much better. Don’t be afraid to show your PLUR.

I recently started getting into the EDM community and I have discovered so many artists that have impacted me in a great way. Whether I am feeling down or just in the mood to rage I can rely on these artists to lift up my mood.
Illenium
Illenium is a DJ that can put you in your feels but also lift you up. I discovered him through a friend of mine and I can’t stop listening to his sets and individual tracks. I have yet to see him live. Every time I attend an event I always go the day that he isn’t performing. I want to see him so bad, so hopefully some time soon I’ll be able to catch him live. I have heard a lot of good things about him so I’m looking forward to it.

Duke Dumont
Duke Dumont gets me in my happy place. Anytime I play his music I always want to get up and dance. Duke Dumont is a house DJ that can turn his crowds into a huge dance party. He has a significant sound that you could spot out, it’s chill but has a certain tropical upbeat vibe to it. Play his songs while driving down to the beach in the summer time and you’re guaranteed to be in your happy place.

Excision
Some times you need that one filthy artist that makes you want to break your neck and head bang all night long. Excision will definitely bring out the basshead in you. His sets are always packed with heavy bass that will make you want to jump into the mosh pit. Whether you need a good workout track or you want to release your inner badass just listen to some Excision and you’re set.

Airbnb and Hotel Rooms
A lot of festivals can be 2-day events or 3-day events. For most of them, they are not close by to where you can come home after each day and rest. I would suggest finding an airbnb or booking a hotel room close to the venue. If you get a place to stay that is close by you won’t have to worry about waking up super early to get ready to then travel to the event to make it on time. You won’t have to stress about traffic or getting lost if you plan to stay close by. Finding somewhere to stay also ensures safety because you won’t be driving very far at night to get back home. Just a quick and easy drive back to your room is the most convenient and finding somewhere to stay is the best way to attend festivals.

Food
If you do plan on staying somewhere near the event, hit up a grocery store on your way there to stock up on some snacks. Buying food or drinks either at the event or somewhere close by can be pretty expensive. If you and your squad split up the cost to buy food to keep in your room, it’ll save you a lot of money. We all know festivals can be expensive, you are paying for so much stuff so don’t let food be one more thing you have to worry about. Just by having stuff in your room makes it less stressful.

After attending several raves I’ve learned some important information along the way. Hopefully these tips can help you keep the good vibes rolling and make your night unforgettable.
Squad Up
Going with a group of people is so important! Attending events with your friends and creating memories that will last a life time is necessary. To be completely honest, the people that you go with can make or break the event. There have been times where the group that I was with got in arguments and the whole mood was killed. Before you go to events make sure your whole squad is on the same page and there is no drama that is brewing before you attend. Good friends can make the experience that much better. They play a huge role in attending events. So grab your friends and get going!

Parking
Getting to the event can be a hassle. If you want to take your own car make sure you are prepared to pay for parking. Most venues have parking passes you can buy online prior to the event, I would check it out before you head out for the event. If you’re not looking to take your own car, Uber and Lyft are great alternatives. There are drop off and pick up areas at events so it is easy to get in and out of in a timely manner. Try and carpool if you can to save money on gas and it makes the trip more fun.

When attending a festival or rave you must have certain items to keep you safe and keep the good vibes going. Every rave you attend make sure you bring these items along with you so that all you have to worry about is having a good time.
Camelbaks
Camelbaks are absolutely necessary when attending a festival. You’re dancing all day, running from stages, and the sun is shining all day long. Staying hydrated is important because if you aren’t drinking water you can get dehydrated. Take advantage of the free water stations and take care of yourself. If you bring one along you can also stash any items that you don’t want to hold onto while watching sets. Fanny packs are also great for storing your items!

Bandanas and Masks
Bandanas and masks are great for venues that have a lot of dirt. Wearing these will keep the dirt out of your nose and mouth. You got to keep yourself safe when attending festivals so you don’t have to stop and miss out sets.

Sunglasses and Fans
Sunglasses are key to protect your eyes from the sun. Festivals can start as early as 12pm, especially ones that take place in the summer. Sunglasses are perfect for an extra pop to your outfit but also keep your eyes in good shape. A lot of venues have a lot of dirt so shades are perfect to keep out all the dust. Fans are essential to cool down. When you’re traveling through the crowd, fanning yourself and your squad keeps you all safe and cool.

Hats
Too lazy to do your hair for an event? Throw on a hat and you’re set! Hats can also provide a form of shade when out in the sun and add more style to your outfit. Bringing a hat can keep your hair in place after head banging during your favorite set.

Festivals can take place in small venues or huge outdoor racetracks. You got to be prepared to dance all night and walk to different stages. Having comfortable shoes is a must to ensure comfortability and endurance all night long.
Boots
Boots are great to wear when you attend an outdoor venue because you’re going to be walking through grass or dirt. They go great with your outfit and provide support for the whole night. Black boots go with every outfit but you can add some style by wearing holographic or patterned boots.

Sneakers
Sneakers are perfect for all night wear. You can run to your favorite DJ or shuffle to your favorite song. Sneakers are the go to rave shoes when you’re tight on a budget and can’t spend money on some platforms or new boots. Add some high socks and you’re good to go!

After you find the perfect outfit for your next event, you got to make sure you tack on some accessories to stand out amongst the crowd.
Glitter and Jewelry
Glitter, glitter, and more glitter. You can never have enough glitter and jewelry when attending a rave. When dressing for raves the flashier you can make yourself the better. When you take pictures or when the lights are shining on you glitter can make you sparkle among the crowd. Putting on some glitter is an easy way to spice up any outfit.

Fishnets and Tutus
Little things like fishnets and tutus can turn any regular outfit into a spunky one. These easy-to-add accessories can make your outfit look more complex and cute, even though they are simple pieces you tacked on.

Kandi
Going to a rave without wearing any kandi is not an option. These bracelets can be traded with people you meet at raves or with your rave squad. When you trade kandi you are spreading the PLUR (peace, love, unity, and respect) culture. Making kandi can be a fun activity you can plan with your squad before an upcoming event.

To all the fellas out there looking to rage and have a good time, while looking stylish and feeling comfortable, here are a couple of statement pieces that look dope at any rave or festival you might be attending in the future.
Tank Tops or No Shirts
Tank tops or going shirtless is ideal for any festival. With tank tops or nothing on top, you have free range to show off all your moves and you won’t get as hot while moving through crowds to get closer to your favorite performers. As you’re walking from stage to stage a tank top can keep you cool and relaxed while going shirtless can get you a nice tan to show off when you get back home.

Jerseys and Button Ups
Guys, we all know you love your sports teams or your favorite DJ’s so why not rep them at a festival or rave!? Showing off your team or artist can strike conversation with another festival goer and you can talk and share some good vibes with them as you watch a DJ. Button ups are very stylish and practical for attending events. Unbutton them when you’re feeling a little hot or when you want to be able dance to your favorite performer. Pair any of these tops with some shorts and you’re good to go.

Figuring out what to wear to a rave can be stressful. Raves can take place in all kinds of weather conditions and you got to be prepared. This collection of “go to” choices and statement pieces will hopefully make your decision a little bit easier.
Bodysuits
Bodysuits are great for comfortability! You don’t have to worry about your top slipping or pulling up your bottoms if they fall down. Solid colors and tie dye are perfect so you can add multiple accessories to make your outfit pop! You’re going to be grooving all night long, so a bodysuit is the perfect fit.

Bralettes and Shorts
A bralette top paired with a pair of shorts is essential for the perfect rave outfit. If you decide to go with a bralette top that is sheer you can add some pasties for a little coverage. Shiny shorts or bikini-like bottoms make the outfit standout. These two pieces paired together make it easy to dance and keep you cool while the sun is shining down on you.
